AR-1 Gyroplane Pricing

The American Ranger 1 gyroplane is Sport Pilot eligible. This allows for a 20-hour pilot license with no medical. The AR-1 gyroplane offers very competitive pricing.

AR-1 Builder’s Kit

AR-1 Gyroplane Builder’s Kit with no engine, propeller, wiring or instruments. Use your own engine and propeller, do your own wiring with your own choice of instruments. Kit comes with frame, rotor-head, fuel tanks, all hardware, landing gear, front forks, pre-rotation system components, control system components, wheels, brakes, tires, cables, seat belts, rotor system, composite parts unpainted.

Gyroplane Engine Packages

Although you can choose to install whichever engine and avionics you want, we offer and officially support the Rotax family of aircraft engines which are ubiquitous in Light Sport Aircraft of every category. We supply propellers, wiring harnesses and even avionics packages that work with these engines. Select from one of the engine packages below.

Rotax 912 ULS

Rotax 912ULS Engine Package (100 HP)

Rotax 912ULS is a 100 HP dual-carb aircraft engine that is used as a default engine in most of world’s Light Sport Aircraft. The engine is ASTM compliant. Engine package includes, engine, remote oil tank, rectifier, coolant radiator, oil radiator, air filters, coolant overflow bottle, all brackets, engine mounts, hardware for the engine, exhaust system, fuel lines, oil lines, standard ground adjustable 3 blade composite propeller.

Rotax 912 iS

Rotax 912iS Engine Package (100 HP Fuel-Injected)

Rotax 912iS is a 100 HP fuel injected redundant FADEC aircraft engine from Rotax that is recommended for customers are tech savvy and want a fuel injected redundant ECU Canbus driven engine. It requires use of an EFIS for engine monitoring that can interface with its Aviation CANBUS for engine monitoring. Analog gauges are not an option with use of this engine. The lowest and simplest EFIS is MGL Xtreme. The engine is ASTM compliant. Engine package includes engine, air filter, oil lines, oil radiator, remote oil tank, fuse box, ECU, coolant radiator, engine mounts, exhaust system, engine mounting hardware, fuel system components, ground adjustable composite propeller.

Rotax 914 UL

Rotax 914UL Engine Package (115 HP Turbo)

Rotax 914UL is a 115 HP dual carb turbo charged aircraft engine by Rotax. A very popular choice for many gyroplanes as the turbo normalizes the engine at higher altitude airports and provides a safe amount of boost for initial takeoff and climb performance. The engine is ASTM compliant. Engine package includes, engine, fuel pumps, fuel flow remote oil tank, rectifier, coolant radiator, oil radiator, air filter, coolant overflow bottle, all brackets, engine mounts, hardware for the engine, exhaust system with turbo, fuel lines, ol lines, standard ground adjustable composite propeller.

Rotax 915 iS

Rotax 915iS Engine Package
(141 HP Fuel-Injected Turbo)

Rotax 915iS is a 141 HP fuel injected redundant FADEC aircraft engine from Rotax that is recommended for customers starting from high altitudes like in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico etc. or if the customer is looking for the ultimate performance anywhere. It requires use of an EFIS for engine monitoring that can interface with its Aviation CANBUS for engine monitoring.

Analog gauges are not an option with use of this engine. The lowest and simplest EFIS is MGL Extreme. The engine is ASTM compliant. Engine package includes engine, air filter, intercooler, intercooler custom piping, oil lines, oil radiator, remote oil tank, fuse box, ECU, coolant radiator, engine mounts, exhaust system with turbo, engine mounting hardware, fuel system components, standard composite propeller.

We offer wiring harnesses based on the instrumentation and engine selections you have made for your AR-1. Options range from a standard wiring harness that can go with standard Day VFR instrumentation (analog engine gauges) to a wiring harness for 10-inch large EFIS using CANBUS for iS engines.

Gyroplane Builder’s Assist

SilverLight Aviation allows you to build your gyroplane at the factory with our specialized tooling and guidance from our experienced mechanics who know the aircraft inside and out. Building your gyroplane could not be easier or safer!

We also provide a builder’s log template, guide you through the maze of FAA paperwork, arrange a DAR (Designated FAA Airworthiness Representative) inspection for your gyroplane and connect you with qualified test pilots who can competently test fly your gyroplane to ensure the rotor is tracked right and everything works. You will pay the test pilot separately for their services. Factory pilots can also offer this service separately.

If you want us to supply painted composite parts, Its best to know which engine you would use as the body is trimmed per the engine and its the best way to do it. If you are not sure or want to use another alternate engine of your own, you can trim it post paint with care.

Factory-finished Prices

If you are interested in purchasing factory-finished AR-1, as opposed to a kit with builder’s assist at the factory to qualify for Experimental Amateur Built (Exp-AB) category, we can supply that for non-US markets where that is legal.

To determine factory-finished test-flown prices, add the kit prices above with all the options you desire and instead of adding Builder’s Assist Fees, add the following additional cost:
